I oiled a drop of singer oil at first then wd 40 on another occasion to my surprise the added oil made the reel bearing stick handle turned rough and got worse after fighting couple of big salmon. The chain lube will not help the grease or whats left of it from the wd40.

Really it shouldn t be used on any ball bearings as it breaks down the bear. Be sure to take the bearings apart when you wash them to make sure that all the wd 40 is gone.
